sabre ground ZDP-189 Delica with Frn handles
The most amazing performance you're gona get with a small knife outside of the custom world.
It is unrealistic to find smaller knives that are willing to pack an extreme steel. The Delica is one of Spyderco's most popular knives & is offered with the Japanese ZDP-189 steel. ZDP-189 is a steel that's hard to sharpen & a little more brittle but offers high wear resistance like a tool steel & is stainless (20% Chromium).
The Sabre grind is key.
Since the steel is more fragile the sabre ground blade shape is important in keeping the tip more durable & preventing any breakage from occurring. This makes the blade's thickness improved even over the Spyderco Sage & the Sebenza. The modified Wharncliffe style blade extends the reach of the blade as far as it can go in relation to your wrist when cutting

Things to consider:
Main thing is the pivot will loosen without locktite in it. Also the lock is not very strong at all & therefore the knife is limited to common cutting tasks & is not recommended for tactical use. The design incorporates stainless steel liners that are fitted inside of the FRN handles. This is problematic when combined with humid climates, mud & water which can lead to rust so maintenance is an issue. The lock can also get debris & dirt stuck in it & without running water will require disassembling. If cleaned not thoroughly then leftover debris can cause rust. The washers are also very thin but can be completely removed & the knife still function properly. Screw quality is decent. The steel is what really makes this knife awesome problem comes when maintenance is requiring you to disassemble the knife because of all the parts & then afterwards the pivot requires locktite/teflon tape or will constantly loosen allowing blade play & the thus increase the possibility of failing. The lock is not strong & can disengage but there is a gaurd in case (people have said that you can push the blade down with your thumb when holding the knife & feel it moving)
