bastinelli bbr1 limited edition tactical folder special 14 made
French Knife Designer Bastinelli's Creation.
A collaboration run of 75 folders was produced by Lionsteel in Italy for Bastinelli Creations. There were 14 made with special configurations that included different G10 combinations & hardware coating. Mr. Bastinelli is a certified combat instructor & custom knife maker of fixed blades. This folder is a collaboration between himself & his friend Nico (MonsieurFromLondon).
Highly functional tactical folder.
This is a knife that will be remembered because the knife allows for every grip position possible. It's very unique that it can do this which makes it functional for tasks or defense because the knife can suit any fighting style. There's a carbide tip on the bottom of the handle that can be used to break glass or as an impact weapon. The thumb ramp on the blde can also serve as a striking point.

Very few knives feature the LBS designed by Rick Hinderer. The Lionsteel Rotoblock functions the same & prevents the lockbar from being gripped inward further than it should go. The Rotoblock also serves as a secondary lock up that will prevent the lock from disengaging.

Are two french you tubers that became friends. Mr. Bastinelli is a custom knifemaker & MonsieurFromLondon requested that a folder be made. The collaboration became the BBR1. Currently this is a one time run of 75 knives, 14 of which are specially numbered & offer in different handle Ti/ G10 combinations. This is an awesome knife & please email Mr. Bastinelli & tell him (in French) that he must make more! Each knife comes with a certificate of authenticity signed Mr. Bastinelli & MonsieurFromLondon. These knives were at the 2011 USN Las Vegas Show & sold out.

The Hinderer Lock Bar Stabilizer is one of the greatest modern achievements for folding knives that increases the capabilities of the knife while also allowing for greater variety of handle design ergonomics. Not all rotoblock designs function as a stabilizer to keep the lockbar from being pressed inward toward the handle spine when gripped hard but the BBR1 functions like a Hinderer or Strider knife & the lock up is extremely tight.

Things to consider:
First these are not really the fault of Mr. Bastinelli as these are manufacturing issues/limitations of Lionsteel.
-The lockbar tends to stick early on & detent is really strong -The blade is not extremely sharp out of box -There's an edge that's on the blade where the thumb ramp is that is a little sharp but can serve as a non lethal striking point -The pivot looks like it requires a special tool but hex works -The tolerances in areas like the stop pin are not perfect so if you use the knife hard or flick/shake it open then the lock can over engage & get a little stuck but with time the sticking goes away -Over time the blade centering can drift towards the g10 side which is better than than towards the TI which would scrape the blade |
