The knife can handle heavier use than expected as shown in our testing video but over time the knife becomes loose in terms of the handle construction. This in no way affects performance but we want you to be aware of this issue before considering.

Those are but some of the best knives you can find are the collaborations with skilled custom knife makers that have been around for decades & put that knowledge into their knives. Bob Lum has been making knives for 31 years until his death in 2007. The Lum Tanto shows that expertise in it's handle design but most especially it's balance when opening which makes for a naturally smooth unasisted action. The overall design has been duplicated by knife maker Chris Reeve in his Umnumzaan because of it's perfect design.

The blade is VG-10 a Japanese steel known for it's higher stain resistance compared to most stainless steels such s30v. The composition lacks molybdenum so it's not as resistant as chrome moly mixes but the steel is known for it's ability to get a razor edge easily & is more likely to roll than break making it a good option for outdoor knife uses.

the traditional fighting knife
The stick shape has enough ergos to keep the knife locked in especially with the grippy g10 handle scales. The butt of is contoured to fit in the palm of your hand & also to be easily grabbed when taking the knife out of the pocket. The pocket clip is in a proper position for tactical use.

Overall balanced knife
The 3mm blade thickness of the Lum Tanto goes all the way to the tip providing a tougher point than on other 4mm blades. The knife is designed to maximize the cutting length while still positioning the blade so that it will not cut you if the lock disengages. The one key note to mention is the design is specific to right hand use & is not safe to use left handed because the lock may be deactivated. Definitely not hardcore tactical but great as an EDC for outdoors/ indoors.
